The following images are a sampling of our coverage of the land, animals and culture of Patagonia, the region in extreme southern Chile and Argentina where the southern Andes Mountains meet the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans.  It is an area of unparalleled natural beauty, but it is beginning to fall victim to some of the same problems facing unspoiled natural areas in the United States (particularly dramatic spikes in visitation and increasing pressure from land developers).
